Highlands, North Carolina sits at roughly 4,100 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains, making it one of the highest-elevation towns in the eastern United States — and one of the most dramatically situated places to play golf anywhere in the region. The surrounding Nantahala National Forest and the cool, misty climate define the landscape: dense hardwood canopy, rocky outcroppings, and mountain air that genuinely changes how a round feels.
Wildcat Cliffs Country Club draws its name from the rugged terrain that surrounds it, and the course reflects the topography of the southern Appalachians rather than fighting it. Expect significant elevation changes, mountain views, and the kind of routing where the land does most of the talking. As a private members' club, it serves the tight-knit community of seasonal and full-time residents who make Highlands one of western Carolina's most distinctive small towns.
The Highlands plateau has long attracted a discerning crowd, and Wildcat Cliffs carries that character — a club where the mountain setting is the whole point, and the golf unfolds accordingly.
