Golf Resort la Gruyère

La Gruyère is one of Switzerland's more scenically dramatic resort courses, set in the pre-Alpine forassembled around the rolling farmland of Fribourg canton — the same countryside that gives the world its most famous cheese. Designed by Donald Harradine and opened in 1988, the course works with the natural contours of the Jaunbach valley region, where wooded ridges and open pastoral meadows create an ever-changing backdrop across the round.

The layout rewards thoughtful play over raw power. Fairways tilt and curve through terrain that demands accurate positioning off the tee, while the greens reflect Harradine's characteristically firm, strategic design philosophy. Several holes offer views toward the Préalpes Fribourgeoises, and the sense of elevation change keeps the course visually engaging from start to finish.

Pont-la-Ville sits roughly midway between Fribourg and Bulle, making the club accessible from both the medieval city of Fribourg and the broader Gruyères region — a destination where a round of golf fits naturally alongside the local food culture, mountain scenery, and distinctly unhurried Swiss pace of life.
