Few courses in the American South carry as much tournament history as English Turn. Jack Nicklaus designed this private layout in the early 1990s on a broad bend of the Mississippi River, and it quickly became one of Louisiana's most prestigious addresses. The PGA Tour's Freeport-McMoRan Classic — and later the Zurich Classic of New Orleans — called it home for over a decade, meaning the grounds have been walked by nearly every major champion of the modern era. Nicklaus built the course in his characteristic style: generous landing areas that tighten as you approach the green, water in play on nearly every hole, and a finishing stretch that has produced genuine drama at the professional level.
The setting is quintessentially South Louisiana — flat, humid, lush, and hemmed by water. The Mississippi looms just beyond the property, and the surrounding marshland gives the course an atmospheric heaviness that no northern layout can replicate.
As a private club, English Turn serves a membership that takes its golf seriously. Conditions are maintained to tournament standards, and the Nicklaus pedigree is felt in every strategic decision the course demands.
