Timber Banks Golf Club occupies a stretch of land along the Seneca River in Baldwinsville, a small town that sits at the northern edge of the Syracuse metropolitan area. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 2005, routing its holes through a residential community in a manner that makes strong use of the river's natural contours and the mature woodlands that give the club its name. RTJ Jr.'s trademark combination of strategic challenge and visual drama is evident throughout, with water coming into play on a significant number of holes and tree-lined corridors demanding accuracy off the tee.
Central New York golf tends to operate on a compressed season — winters here are serious, with lake-effect snow off Lake Ontario capable of shutting things down well into spring — so members make the most of the warmer months when the landscape is at its lush, green best.
As a private club, Timber Banks cultivates a close-knit membership and a playing experience oriented around unhurried, well-maintained rounds on a layout that remains one of the more architecturally distinguished courses in the greater Syracuse area.
