Valkenswaard sits in the southern reaches of North Brabant, a quietly beautiful corner of the Netherlands where heathland, pine forest, and sandy Kempen soil define the landscape. That terrain is almost purpose-built for golf, and the Valkenswaardse Golfclub makes full use of it — the course moves through mature woodland and open heathery ground in the manner of the great Dutch heathland tracks, where natural contours do the heavy lifting and the routing feels unhurried rather than engineered.
The club has deep roots in the regional golf community and carries the understated character typical of established Dutch provincial clubs: serious about its golf, loyal to its membership, and refreshingly free of the resort-circuit polish that can strip a course of personality. Expect tight, tree-lined corridors to test your accuracy off the tee and firmer, faster conditions when the sandy subsoil drains well through summer.
North Brabant as a whole punches above its weight for golf, and Valkenswaard is a worthy representative — the kind of course that rewards repeat visits as its subtleties reveal themselves round by round.
