Ljungbyhed sits in the heart of Skåne, Sweden's southernmost county, where the landscape opens into heathland and agricultural plains bounded by beech forest — terrain that has a genuine kinship with the linksland traditions of northern Europe. The club takes its name from a small town that carries an outsized place in Swedish aviation history: Ljungbyhed was home to Sweden's first flight school, and the flat, open character of the surrounding land that made it ideal for early aviators also gives the golf course a distinctly exposed, wind-influenced feel that rewards course management over raw power.
Skåne is arguably the heartland of Swedish golf, with a density of clubs and a golfing culture that reflects the region's relatively mild (by Scandinavian standards) climate and its long history of contact with the Continent. The area attracts serious golfers year-round when conditions allow, and courses here tend to prize strategic design over spectacle.
Ljungbyheds Golfklubb offers a grounded, authentic club experience — the kind of place where local knowledge matters, where the wind off the heath can reframe any hole in an instant, and where the setting does the talking.
