Few courses in Australia earn the kind of quiet devotion that Jamberoo Golf Club inspires among those who've played it. Situated in the Jamberoo Valley — a lush, dairy-farming hollow in the Illawarra region, about 100 kilometres south of Sydney — the course occupies terrain of striking natural beauty, with the Illawarra Escarpment rising dramatically to the west and a pastoral serenity that feels a world removed from the city. The valley's reliable rainfall keeps the layout green and playing soft for much of the year.
Jamberoo is a genuine country members' club in the best Australian tradition: unpretentious, well-maintained, and fiercely loved by its community. The valley setting brings variety in elevation and line of sight, and the coastal influence from nearby Kiama means wind can be a real factor — making the course play differently from one round to the next.
For visitors making the trip down the Illawarra, Jamberoo pairs naturally with a region worth exploring: the blowhole at Kiama, the coastal walks, and some of the most underrated rural golf in New South Wales.
