Casamassima is a small hilltop town in the Metropolitan City of Bari, perched above the Murgia plateau in Puglia's interior. The region has quietly built a modest but genuine golf scene over recent decades, with the Adriatic coast and the Valle d'Itria's trulli country drawing visitors who often combine golf with wine tourism and the food culture Puglia does better than almost anywhere in southern Italy. The terrain here is characteristically Apulian — limestone karst, olive groves, dry-stone walls, and open sky in every direction.
Barialto Golf Club is 1 of a small number of courses serving greater Bari, a city of nearly a million people with surprisingly limited golf infrastructure relative to its size. A club in this position tends to function as a genuine community hub for local players rather than a resort operation — the kind of place where members have grown up with the game together, and where a visiting golfer is a novelty welcomed warmly rather than a transaction.
Puglia's dry summers and mild winters make year-round play realistic, though July and August demand an early tee time. Expect turf and conditions shaped by a Mediterranean climate, with views across the plateau that no scorecard can capture.
