Few golf clubs in South America carry the institutional weight of Los Lagartos. Founded in the mid-20th century and long considered one of Bogotá's premier private clubs, it has served as a cornerstone of Colombian golf culture for decades — hosting national championships and shaping generations of players who went on to compete at the highest levels of the Latin American game.
Playing golf at 2,600 meters above sea level changes everything. The thin Andean air adds significant distance to every shot, meaning distances you'd normally calculate become unreliable guides. The ball flies farther, approaches behave differently off the clubface, and course management demands recalibration from any visitor arriving from sea level.
