Golfclub Bleijenbeek

Golfclub Bleijenbeek occupies the grounds of Kasteel Bleijenbeek, a medieval castle estate in the Noord-Limburg municipality of Bergen. The course wraps around and through the historic castle complex, giving it an atmosphere that few Dutch clubs can match — centuries of history embedded directly into the playing experience. The layout was developed to make full use of the estate's mature woodland, open parkland, and the water features that characterize this corner of the Netherlands, where the Maas river valley shapes both the landscape and the light.

Noord-Limburg sits in the southernmost reach of the Dutch lowlands before the terrain begins its gradual rise toward Belgium and the Ardennes. Afferden itself is a quiet village, and the club has the feel of a private retreat — unhurried, rooted in its surroundings, with the castle ruins and manor architecture lending the whole property a sense of occasion that goes well beyond the golf itself.

The course plays through a genuine parkland setting, and managing the tree-lined corridors and water hazards demands accuracy over raw power. It is the kind of club where the setting does as much work as the design.
