Few golf destinations in British Columbia demand as much attention to the surroundings as Valemount Pines. The course sits in the upper Rocky Mountain Trench, a dramatic glacial valley flanked by 3 distinct mountain ranges — the Rockies to the east, the Cariboos to the west, and the Monashees to the south. Playing here means competing for your own concentration against one of the more spectacular backdrops in Canadian golf.
Valemount itself is a small mountain community near the Alberta border, better known to most travelers as a snowmobiling hub and gateway to the Yellowhead Pass. Golf here is a genuine warm-weather reward in a place that winters hard and long. The short season gives the course a quality that only northern layouts carry — every round feels earned, and the fairways, carved through mature stands of lodgepole pine and spruce, feel genuinely remote.
As a community course serving a small, year-round population, Valemount Pines offers an honest, unhurried round. Expect wildlife, expect silence, and expect that the mountains will win the staring contest every time.
