Trosa Golfklubb sits just outside one of Sweden's most charming small towns — a coastal community on the Baltic fringe of Södermanland that has been called "the end of the world" by locals, a term of endearment for its quietly removed, unhurried character. The club plays through the kind of Swedish countryside that defines golf in this part of Scandinavia: mixed forest, granite outcroppings, and open farmland stitched together by a landscape that shifts constantly underfoot.
Södermanland is genuine golf country, sitting within a belt of clubs south of Stockholm where the game has deep roots and a loyal, year-round following — or as close to year-round as the northern calendar allows. The season here is compressed but intense, with long summer days giving rounds a quality of light that is hard to describe and impossible to forget.
As a member-founded club in a small Swedish community, Trosa carries the character common to provincial Scandinavian golf: unpretentious, well-maintained, and taken seriously by the people who call it home. It rewards players who appreciate landscape over spectacle.
