Condado de Alhama is a resort-style golf complex built within the broader Condado de Alhama residential and leisure development in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia, in the heart of Spain's southeastern Murcia region. The course was designed to serve the large-scale urbanization that took shape here in the 2000s, catering to the wave of Northern European buyers and holidaymakers drawn to inland Murcia's reliably sunny, dry climate. With well over 300 days of sunshine a year and the Sierra Espuña natural park rising dramatically to the north, the setting offers genuine visual drama even if the development context is unapologetically modern.
The layout winds through the residential estate, so homes and fairways share plenty of boundaries — a familiar formula in this corner of Spain. That said, the sierra backdrop gives holes a sense of scale that purely flat resort tracks lack, and the dry, scrubby Mediterranean vegetation lends the rough a punishing authenticity.
Alhama de Murcia itself is a small market town with Roman roots and a thermal bathing tradition stretching back millennia. Murcia city, with its baroque cathedral and serious restaurant culture, is a short drive east — making this a viable base for visitors who want golf alongside something genuinely Spanish.
