Yyteri Golf is one of Finland's most distinctive courses, built across the sand dunes and coastal heathland that fringe Yyteri Beach — one of the longest natural sand beaches in the Nordic countries. The links-style terrain is genuinely unusual for Finnish golf, where forest layouts dominate, and it gives the course a character closer to the Baltic and North Sea traditions than anything you'd typically find inland. Wind off the Gulf of Bothnia is a constant factor, turning a manageable card into something far more demanding depending on the day.
The course sits within the Yyteri nature reserve, so the landscape itself is protected and largely untouched — pine-backed dunes, marram grass rough, and wide open skies that shift quickly with the coastal weather. Playing here feels less like a round in Finland and more like a trip to a Scandinavian interpretation of links golf.
Pori is a mid-sized industrial and cultural city with a strong regional identity, best known internationally for the Pori Jazz Festival. Yyteri, about 15 kilometres from the city centre, draws visitors throughout the summer season when Finland's long daylight hours make evening rounds a genuine pleasure.
