Few stretches of English golfing territory carry the same elemental weight as the East Sussex coast, and Seaford sits right in the heart of it. The course occupies the chalk downland above the town, where the South Downs meet the English Channel — open, rolling terrain that has shaped golf in this corner of England for well over a century. Seaford Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the older clubs in the south of England, and the course has the bones to prove it: natural contours, firm turf, and the kind of wind exposure that turns a benign morning into something altogether more demanding by afternoon.
The layout plays as a par 69, which tells you something about its character — shorter par 4s that reward precision over raw power, where position off the tee matters far more than distance.
This is traditional English downland golf at close to its purest. No water features, no forced carries manufactured from flat land — just the ground as it was found, with views across the Downs and, on clear days, out toward the Channel.
