Metacomet Country Club carries one of the more distinguished pedigrees in New England golf. The course was designed by Donald Ross, the Scottish-born architect whose fingerprints are on so many of the region's most respected layouts, and it has long been regarded as one of Rhode Island's finest private clubs. East Providence sits just across the Seekonk River from Providence itself, and Metacomet's setting reflects the gentler, more intimate scale of the Rhode Island landscape — compact, well-wooded, and routed with the kind of economy that Ross mastered on smaller properties.
