Ringway Golf Club occupies a corner of Cheshire that sits almost literally in the shadow of Manchester Airport — the rumble of jets overhead is as much a part of the experience here as the fairways themselves. Founded in 1909, the club has more than a century of golf behind it, and that history shows in the maturity of the tree-lined layout, where established oaks and beeches frame virtually every hole and reward accurate driving over raw power.
The surrounding landscape is classic Cheshire parkland: gently rolling, well-drained ground that holds its condition reasonably well through the northwest's famously wet winters. Altrincham itself sits on the southern edge of Greater Manchester, affluent and well-connected, and Ringway reflects that setting — a proper members' club with a loyal local following that has kept it relevant across generations.
At par 71, the course leans slightly shorter than a traditional par-72 layout, which places a premium on iron play and course management rather than length. It rewards those who think their way around rather than overpower it.
