Zhaoqing is one of Guangdong Province's most naturally compelling backdrops for golf — a city ringed by karst limestone formations, the sprawling Xinghu Lake system, and the forested hills of Dinghu Mountain, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. That landscape gives any course here a sense of grandeur that's difficult to manufacture elsewhere in the Pearl River Delta region.
臻湖高尔夫球会 (Zhenhu Golf Club) sits within this scenic corridor roughly 90 kilometers west of Guangzhou, placing it within reach of the vast golfing population of the Greater Bay Area. Zhaoqing has developed a modest but genuine golf scene over the years, and courses here tend to leverage the area's water features and rolling terrain in ways that flatter the scenery rather than fight it. The name 臻湖 — meaning something close to "perfecting the lake" — suggests a design philosophy oriented around water.
For visiting players, the region offers a noticeably different pace from the dense urban courses of Shenzhen or Guangzhou, with cleaner air drifting down from Dinghu and a sense of having genuinely left the city behind.
