Few courses in the Coachella Valley carry the tournament pedigree of Classic Club. Arnold Palmer and his design team shaped this desert layout in the early 2000s, and it quickly earned its stripes as the longtime host of the Bob Hope Classic (later the Humana Challenge and now the American Express), one of the PGA Tour's most storied pro-am events. The course is routinely cited among the strongest designs the valley has to offer, blending resort-quality conditioning with genuine strategic demands.
Playing Classic Club means navigating a routing that works the high desert terrain thoughtfully — wide corridors give way to tighter, more consequential approach angles, while the bunkering and green complexes reflect Palmer's preference for bold, visually honest challenges over cheap surprises. The par 5s in particular reward aggressive play, fitting for a course that has watched tour professionals go low in the desert winter sun.
Palm Desert sits at the heart of the valley's golf corridor, roughly equidistant from Palm Springs and La Quinta. Warm winters draw players from across the country, and Classic Club holds its own among the region's deep roster of standout venues.
