Rosebery sits in one of the more unlikely corners of Australian golf — the west coast of Tasmania, a region defined by ancient rainforest, dramatic mountain ranges, and some of the wettest, wildest weather on the continent. The town itself grew out of the mining boom of the early 20th century, built around the zinc and lead deposits of the Hercules mine, and the golf club carries that same working-community character: a course that exists because local people wanted one, not because a developer was chasing a resort market.

For visiting golfers, Rosebery is the kind of place that rewards the detour. The west coast sees a fraction of the tourist traffic that the island's better-known regions attract, and that obscurity is part of the appeal.
