Sæby Golfklub

Sæby Golfklub sits on the northeastern shoulder of Jutland, in one of Denmark's least-visited corners — a stretch of coastline where the Kattegat meets pine-fringed heathland and the light in summer stays long and golden well into the evening. The club dates to the late 1970s and occupies terrain that rewards the course designer: natural undulation, sandy subsoil that drains quickly, and mature woodland that frames fairways without overwhelming them. The result is a layout that feels genuinely rooted in its landscape rather than imposed upon it.

The course plays through a mix of open heathland holes and tighter tree-lined corridors, and the prevailing coastal wind off the Kattegat means that club selection rarely follows any obvious logic from one round to the next. It rewards local knowledge, and visitors often find it plays considerably firmer and faster than it first appears from the tee.

Sæby itself is a small fishing town with a well-preserved medieval church and a low-key, unhurried atmosphere. The surrounding region — Vendsyssel — is known for wide beaches, migratory birdlife, and a golf culture built around genuine enthusiasm rather than prestige, making this a welcoming stop on any itinerary through northern Jutland.
