Trestle Creek Golf Resort takes its name from the historic railway trestles that once defined this stretch of the Pembina River valley west of Edmonton — a reminder that the land along this corridor has long been a place of passage and ambition. The course sits in the rolling, forested terrain characteristic of central Alberta's parkland region, where stands of trembling aspen and spruce frame the fairways and the valley's natural contours do much of the architect's work for him. It's the kind of setting that rewards a straight ball and punishes a wandering eye.
The Pembina River valley gives Trestle Creek genuine visual drama that most Alberta courses have to manufacture artificially. Elevation changes, tree-lined corridors, and the ever-present possibility of a slope carrying your ball somewhere inconvenient make for a round that engages your course-management instincts from the opening tee.
As a resort property in a region where outdoor recreation is a serious local pursuit, Trestle Creek draws both committed golfers making the roughly 80-kilometre drive from Edmonton and visitors exploring the Pembina country.
