Few tour stops feel as genuinely rooted in their host community as TPC at Deere Run. Built as a dedicated PGA Tour facility and home to the John Deere Classic, the course was designed by D.A. Weibring and opened in 1997, replacing the long-running tournament's previous home at Coal Valley. It sits on land that rolls through the Quad Cities corridor of northwestern Illinois, and the Tour has returned here every summer since — a streak of loyalty between a sponsor, a region, and a golf course that's increasingly rare on the modern schedule.
The design rewards precision over raw power, with par 71 playing tighter than many assume. Water comes into play repeatedly, the greens run quick and true, and the tree-lined corridors that define the early holes give way to more exposed, risk-reward finishing stretch. Tour players frequently cite the closing holes as among the most demanding on the circuit.
Silvis sits just across the Mississippi from the Iowa border, and the Quad Cities carries a working-class Midwest character that colors the whole event. Galleries here are knowledgeable and loud, and the tournament has historically offered a launch pad for emerging Tour talent. Jordan Spieth's breakthrough victory here in 2013 is arguably the most memorable moment in the event's long run.
