Beaumont sits at roughly 2,600 feet in the San Gorgonio Pass, the wind corridor that cuts between the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountain ranges east of Los Angeles. It's a transitional landscape — high desert scrub giving way to glimpses of snow-capped peaks — and golf played here carries a distinctly different feel from the manicured resort courses of nearby Palm Springs or the coastal tracks of greater LA. The elevation and prevailing winds are real factors, and first-time visitors routinely misjudge both.
Oak Valley Golf Club occupies this terrain as a semi-private facility that has built a loyal following among Inland Empire golfers. The course has hosted a number of regional and qualifying events over the years, and its reputation leans toward a genuine test rather than a vanity layout — the kind of place where scoring well requires course management, not just power.
The Beaumont-Banning corridor doesn't draw the same golf tourism as the Coachella Valley, but that's precisely the appeal for regulars. Oak Valley offers serious golf at a realistic price point, without the pretense that sometimes travels west on the 10 freeway with the resort crowd.
