Kentucky's Land Between the Lakes region sits on one of the most distinctive pieces of geography in the American South — a narrow strip of land flanked by Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake, 2 massive reservoirs that transformed this corner of western Kentucky when they were created in the mid-20th century. Lake Barkley State Park is one of Kentucky's flagship resort parks, and golf here fits naturally into that tradition of accessible, state-sponsored outdoor recreation. The course carries the name of Boots Randolph, the celebrated saxophonist behind "Yakety Sax," who was deeply connected to this part of Kentucky — a nod to the region's musical character and local pride.
