Tesino Golf Club La Farfalla

Pieve Tesino sits at roughly 1,000 meters elevation in the Tesino plateau, a quiet corner of Trentino tucked between the Dolomites and the Venetian Prealps. The village is better known to Italians as the birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi, post-war Italy's founding prime minister, than as a golf destination — which gives La Farfalla a pleasantly unhurried, off-the-beaten-path character that resort courses rarely manage to replicate.

The name translates simply as "The Butterfly," and the course occupies the high meadows above the village where the air is noticeably cooler and cleaner than in the valleys below. Alpine layouts at this altitude tend to reward straight, controlled play over raw power — mountain terrain punishes lateral mistakes more than flat parkland ever does, and the surrounding spruce and larch forests leave little margin for wayward shots.

Trentino's golf season runs roughly May through October, when the plateau sheds its snow. The region draws hikers and cyclists in summer, and La Farfalla offers a gentle counterpoint to the area's more strenuous mountain pursuits — an unhurried round with Dolomite ridgelines as a constant backdrop.
