Dryden sits in the heart of Northwestern Ontario, a region defined by boreal forest, Canadian Shield rock, and the kind of wide-open wilderness that makes you feel genuinely remote — because you are. The Trans-Canada Highway connects this pulp-and-paper town to Thunder Bay to the east and Kenora to the west, but Dryden has always been its own self-contained place, and Eagles Landing Golf Club reflects that spirit. This is golf at the edge of the Canadian frontier.
Without detailed records on the course's design history or specific routing, what's clear is the setting does the heavy lifting. Northwestern Ontario's Shield terrain tends to produce courses that work around granite outcroppings, poplar and spruce stands, and water in forms both decorative and genuinely threatening. The name Eagles Landing isn't accidental — bald eagles are a routine sight in this corridor, not a novelty.
For visiting golfers, playing a full 18-hole, par-72 layout this far into the Canadian interior carries its own reward. The distances from anywhere make the round feel earned, and the boreal backdrop is about as far from a manufactured resort experience as golf gets.
