Mayfair Country Club carries one of the more storied names in central Florida golf. The club has long served as a pillar of the Sanford community, offering its members a traditional country club experience in a region that has seen explosive golf development over the decades. While Orlando's resort corridors grab most of the attention, Seminole County's private clubs have quietly cultivated a more grounded, member-first culture — and Mayfair fits that mold.
Sanford sits along the southern shore of Lake Monroe, where the terrain is characteristically flat Florida lowland, softened by mature oaks, palms, and the kind of generous turf that the subtropical climate both rewards and punishes depending on the season. Summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms are simply part of the deal here, and the course plays differently in January than it does in August.
As a private, members-only club built around a full par-72 layout, Mayfair is oriented toward the rhythms of club life — regular competitions, seasonal events, and the particular satisfaction of knowing a course well enough to play it rather than just survive it.
