Few public golf courses in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex have earned the kind of consistent respect that Ridgeview Ranch has built since opening in 1992. Designed by Jeff Brauer, one of Texas's most prolific and thoughtful architects, the course makes strong use of the natural creek corridors and rolling terrain that cut through what might otherwise be flat North Texas ground. Brauer's routing rewards strategic thinking over raw power, with tree-lined fairways and well-positioned water hazards that demand accuracy off the tee.
The course occupies a corner of Plano that was, when it opened, still finding its suburban footing — the city has since grown dramatically around it, making Ridgeview Ranch a genuine community fixture rather than just a destination layout. It has consistently appeared on Texas's lists of top public courses, and its reputation for solid conditioning and fair but testing design keeps a loyal local following coming back.
For visiting golfers, this is a course that rewards multiple rounds. The routing unfolds in ways that aren't immediately obvious, and the Creek holes in particular tend to linger in memory.
