Barbados Golf Club

Ron Kirby's redesign of this Christ Church layout in 2000 gave Barbados Golf Club a more polished identity, transforming what had been a fairly modest track into the island's only public-access 18-hole course of genuine championship ambition. Kirby worked with the site's natural undulations in the island's southern interior, away from the beaches, producing a course that rewards strategic thinking over raw power — fairways that bend through stands of mahogany trees, greens that demand attention to slope and grain.

Christ Church parish sits in the drier, calmer south of Barbados, which means more consistent playing conditions than you'd find on the windward Atlantic coast. The trade winds still have a say, particularly on exposed stretches, and the Bajan heat requires some honest course management of the energy kind as well.

For visiting golfers, this is essentially the island's primary destination for a proper competitive round. It draws a mix of resort guests, expatriates, and locals, and carries the easy, sociable atmosphere that golf in the Caribbean tends to cultivate without much effort.
