Few places in American sport carry the layered history of Lake Placid — a small Adirondack town that has twice hosted the Winter Olympics and occupies an almost mythological place in the national imagination. The Whiteface Club & Resort sits within that world, set against the High Peaks of the Adirondacks with Whiteface Mountain as a constant presence on the horizon. The resort itself has roots going back well over a century, and the golf course is woven into that tradition of Adirondack leisure.
Playing here means navigating terrain that is genuinely mountainous rather than merely rolling — elevation changes are real, views come at you from unexpected angles, and the surrounding forest is dense northern hardwood and evergreen. Autumn, when the foliage turns across the High Peaks, is arguably the most spectacular time to play anywhere in the Northeast, and this course delivers that experience in full.
As a resort layout, it welcomes visiting players while still offering enough variety and character to reward repeat rounds. The par-71 routing gives the course a slightly unconventional rhythm worth paying attention to.
