Slovak golf is a young sport in a country that only separated from Czechoslovakia in 1993, and the courses that have emerged since reflect a region still finding its identity in the game. Báč is a small village in the Trnava region of southwestern Slovakia, sitting on the flat, agricultural plains between the capital Bratislava and the regional center of Trnava — one of the country's oldest cities, known for its baroque churches and university. This part of Slovakia is low-lying and open, shaped more by the Danube basin than by the dramatic mountain terrain found further north, which gives any course here a distinctly parkland character, exposed to the prevailing winds off the surrounding fields.

Apex sits in this setting as part of what appears to be a modern, privately developed facility catering to the growing recreational golf market that has taken root in western Slovakia since the post-communist era opened the country to leisure investment.

The Trnava region draws golfers from Bratislava, just 40 or so kilometers to the south, making courses here accessible weekend destinations for the capital's expanding golf community.
