Hickory Heights Golf Club sits in Bridgeville, a borough tucked into the rolling hills of southwestern Pennsylvania just southwest of Pittsburgh. This part of Allegheny County is classic western PA terrain — wooded ridges, creek-fed valleys, and the kind of topography that gives golf courses their natural bones without an architect having to manufacture much drama. The Pittsburgh area has a deep, underappreciated golf culture, shaped by the region's blue-collar identity and a long tradition of public and semi-private layouts that reward shotmaking over spectacle.
A par-72 layout of 18 holes fits comfortably into that tradition — the kind of club where a regular game means something, where members or frequent visitors come to know every slope and prevailing wind rather than chasing novelty. Courses in this corner of Pennsylvania tend to play firm and fast in summer, with autumn rounds offering some of the best conditions of the year as the hardwoods turn.
Without more on the club's specific history or designer, what's clear is the setting does much of the work — southwestern PA's terrain rarely produces a dull round.
