Aberdeen's stretch of North Sea coastline has shaped the city's character for centuries — and Kings Links occupies a prime slice of it, running along the foreshore just north of the city centre. This is municipal golf in one of Scotland's great golfing cities, a public layout that has given generations of Aberdonians their first taste of links turf and remained a local staple long after many of them moved on to private clubs elsewhere.
The course plays across genuine links terrain — firm, fast, and subject to the North Sea winds that can make a par 71 feel very different depending on the direction they're blowing. The ground is open and exposed in the way that proper Scottish seaside golf tends to be, with the kind of natural undulation underfoot that rewards a low running game over anything ambitious through the air.
For visitors, Kings Links offers an honest, affordable entry point into Aberdeen's golf scene — a city that sits within easy reach of some of the finest courses in the country and takes the game seriously at every level.
