Few cities in the world have a golf culture as deeply woven into the urban fabric as Johannesburg, and Parkview Golf Club sits at the heart of that tradition. Founded in 1916, the club occupies a remarkable stretch of ground in the leafy northern suburbs, where jacaranda-lined fairways and mature trees create a genuine parkland atmosphere in the middle of one of Africa's busiest cities. It is one of the oldest clubs in the Gauteng region, and its longevity speaks to the loyalty it inspires in its members.
The course winds through the residential neighborhood of Parkview in a way that feels almost improbable — generous fairways threading between property boundaries, with the Johannesburg skyline occasionally visible through the canopy. Playing here at the Highveld's altitude means the ball flies noticeably farther than at sea level, a factor every visiting golfer learns to account for quickly.
Parkview is unambiguously a members' club in character: unhurried, convivial, and proud of its history. It is the kind of place where the 19th hole conversation matters as much as the round itself.
