The Club de Campo Mendoza sits in Godoy Cruz, one of the municipalities that form Greater Mendoza, pressed up against the eastern foothills of the Andes in Argentina's most celebrated wine country. The setting is extraordinary — the jagged, snow-capped cordillera dominates the western skyline, and the dry, high-altitude air of the Cuyo region gives the ball a noticeable extra carry that visitors quickly learn to account for. Mendoza's golf scene has long been anchored by private club culture, and this is very much a members' institution rooted in the social and sporting traditions of the region.
Playing golf here means doing so in a landscape shaped by irrigation and viticulture — the poplars, vineyards, and acequia water channels that define Mendoza's countryside have an analog in the tree-lined layouts typical of Argentine parkland clubs, where shade and structure replace dramatic natural topography.
A par 72 layout in this context rewards patience and local knowledge. Altitude, wind patterns off the mountains, and the particular firmness of turf in a semi-arid climate all make the course play differently than its printed numbers might suggest to a visiting golfer.
