Few Danish courses carry the name recognition of Himmerland, a resort property that has grown into one of Scandinavia's most celebrated golf destinations. Set in the rolling Jutland heathland southeast of the Limfjord, the complex hosts multiple courses and has long served as a benchmark for resort golf in northern Europe. It gained particular international prominence as the long-time host of the Himmerland Golf Invitational on the European Tour (now DP World Tour), bringing professional competition — and television exposure — to a corner of Denmark that most international golfers might otherwise overlook.
The landscape does much of the work here. Jutland's open heather, mixed woodland, and gently contoured terrain give the courses a links-adjacent feel without the coastal exposure, and the region's wide skies and quiet countryside lend rounds a distinctive Nordic character. Wind, as anywhere on the Danish peninsula, is a genuine strategic factor regardless of conditions underfoot.
Farsø itself is a small market town in the Vesthimmerland municipality, and the resort functions as a genuine destination — visitors arrive expecting a full stay, not just a tee time. The combination of tournament pedigree and a strong sense of place makes Himmerland worth the drive from Aalborg, roughly 40 kilometres to the northeast.
