El Tinto is the private members' club at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, one of the flagship courses along the Riviera Maya corridor where Cancún's resort golf has matured into something genuinely serious. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the layout winds through the expansive Palace Resorts property south of the hotel zone, weaving among mangroves, lagoons, and tropical vegetation that give it a distinctly different character from the more manicured resort tracks nearby. The Nicklaus design philosophy is on full display — generous landing areas off the tee that tighten as you approach well-guarded greens, with water and wetlands serving as natural hazards rather than decorative afterthoughts.

Playing in the Yucatán means contending with heat, humidity, and the occasional Caribbean breeze that can shift club selection dramatically from morning to afternoon. The flat limestone terrain typical of the peninsula keeps elevation change minimal, but the routing uses water and dense tropical growth to create definition and risk at nearly every turn.
