Syracuse sits at the heart of Indiana's lake country — Kosciusko County holds more natural lakes than almost anywhere else in the Midwest, and the surrounding landscape of glacial water, wetlands, and low rolling terrain shapes every round of golf played here. South Shore Golf Club takes its name from exactly where it is: on the southern edge of one of the area's many lakes, where water comes into play as a natural feature rather than a manufactured hazard.
The region draws visitors in summer for boating and fishing, which means golf here has always coexisted with a broader outdoor culture. Courses in this part of northern Indiana tend to feel unhurried — the membership and daily-fee crowds alike are here to enjoy the setting as much as post a score.
At par 72 across 18 holes, South Shore offers a full test without the pretension of a destination resort. This is honest Midwest golf, rooted in a community where the lake is always close and the pace of life is set accordingly.
