Bay Valley Resort has been a fixture of mid-Michigan golf since the early 1970s, operating as part of a full-service resort complex in Bay City that also includes a hotel, conference facilities, and spa. The course was designed with a resort audience in mind — playable enough to welcome visitors of all skill levels while offering enough variety to hold the interest of better players. It sits on gently rolling terrain typical of the Saginaw Bay region, where the flatness of the Great Lakes lowlands is punctuated by contoured fairways and mature tree lines that give the layout a parkland feel.
Bay City sits at the point where the Saginaw River meets Saginaw Bay, roughly 100 miles north of Detroit. The region is better known for its industrial and maritime history than for golf, which makes Bay Valley something of a standout in the local landscape — a polished, amenity-rich destination in an area that doesn't otherwise draw destination golfers in large numbers.
The par-71 layout reflects the resort's all-inclusive identity. Rounds here tend to be social and relaxed rather than rigidly competitive, making it a natural fit for corporate outings, group travel, and family stays where the course is one part of a broader getaway.
