King City Golf Club serves the southwest Portland suburbs, anchored in a community that grew up around planned retirement living in the 1960s and has since broadened into a full residential corridor along the Tualatin Valley. The course reflects that origin — a walkable, member-oriented layout built around the rhythms of everyday golf rather than tournament spectacle.
At par 68, the design leans heavily on shorter holes, which means precision and course management matter far more than raw power. Players who work the ball and think their way around tend to enjoy it more than those who arrive expecting to unleash the driver on every hole. The Tualatin Valley's famously mild, damp winters extend the season well into months that shut down much of the rest of the country, though morning fog and soft fairways are part of the bargain from November through March.
For golfers living in or passing through the Tigard-King City corridor, this is the kind of unpretentious local track that rewards regulars — a place where you get to know the greens intimately and the game itself stays central.
