Few settings in Quebec golf carry the weight of history that Montebello does. The course at Fairmont Le Château Montebello sits on the grounds of one of the most storied resort properties in Canada — a landmark log-structure hotel built in 1930 that has hosted royalty, heads of state, and the G7 summit. The golf operation shares that patrician atmosphere, offering a round that feels genuinely apart from the everyday, set against the forested hills and river valleys of the Outaouais region between Montreal and Ottawa.
The course itself works through mature woodland terrain typical of the Laurentian foothills, where hardwoods and conifers frame nearly every hole and the Ottawa River landscape shapes the character of the property. Autumn brings spectacular colour, making it one of the more visually striking times to play anywhere in the province.
As a resort course, it rewards guests staying at the château with a complete retreat experience rather than a stern examination — pleasurable, scenic golf in a setting with very few rivals in eastern Canada.
