Royal Valley

Royal Valley sits in the foothills of the Tatra mountain region of northeastern Slovakia, in a part of the country where golf arrived relatively late but took root with genuine enthusiasm. Malý Slavkov is a small village in the Prešov region, an area better known for spa towns like Bardejov and the dramatic peaks of the High and Low Tatras than for fairways — which makes any course out here something of a quiet discovery for golfers passing through central Europe.

The course occupies a landscape shaped by rolling agricultural land and forested ridges, and the setting itself does much of the design work: elevation changes are natural rather than manufactured, and the views toward the surrounding hills give the round a scenic backdrop that flatland courses simply cannot replicate. Slovakia's continental climate means distinct seasons, with the playing window running roughly spring through autumn before mountain winters set in.
