Eufaula sits at the edge of Lake Eufaula — Walter F. George Reservoir — one of the largest lakes in the Southeast, and the Country Club of Alabama reflects the quiet, unhurried grace of this corner of the Alabama Black Belt. The town itself has one of the most intact collections of antebellum architecture in the region, and golf here carries that same sense of permanence and local pride that defines the community around it.
As a private club serving a small but historically rooted city, this is the kind of course where members have played the same Saturday morning groups for decades, where the land and its quirks become deeply familiar over a lifetime of rounds. The gently rolling terrain of southeast Alabama — pines, hardwoods, and the occasional view toward the lake basin — gives the property a natural character that no amount of design ambition could manufacture.
For a visiting golfer, playing here means stepping into something genuinely local rather than a packaged golf experience, which in its own way is the rarest thing the game still has to offer.
