Coyote Run GC sits on Beale Air Force Base, one of the most strategically significant installations in the U.S. military — home to the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft and the SR-71 Blackbird program's legacy. Located in the Sacramento Valley northeast of Sacramento, the base occupies a broad stretch of valley floor where the Central Valley begins its gradual climb toward the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The surrounding terrain is characterized by open grassland, valley oaks, and the kind of wide, sky-heavy landscape that gives a course room to breathe.
Like most military golf facilities, Coyote Run exists to serve the base community — active duty personnel, retirees, and their families — offering access to the game at rates that reflect that mission rather than the commercial market. These courses tend toward the straightforward and well-maintained, built for regular play rather than spectacle.
The Sacramento Valley's hot, dry summers and mild winters mean golf is genuinely a year-round pursuit here. When the tule fog lifts in winter and the valley oaks hold their shape against the hills, Beale is a surprisingly pleasant place to play.
