Plantation sits just west of Fort Lauderdale in Broward County, one of South Florida's most densely developed stretches of suburban landscape. Golf here exists in a particular idiom: flat, lush, and shaped by the subtropical climate that delivers heat and afternoon thunderstorms for much of the year. Courses in this corridor tend to weave through residential communities, with water hazards — canals, lakes, and retention ponds — doing much of the defensive work that elevation changes would handle elsewhere.
A par-72 layout named the West Course suggests a facility with at least one companion track, likely a private or semi-private club catering to the area's established residential base. That kind of setup is common throughout Plantation and neighboring Davie, where country clubs grew up alongside the communities they serve, becoming fixtures of local golf life over decades.
Playing golf in Broward County rewards patience with its conditions. Ball flights hold true in the humidity, but reading greens on Bermudagrass — the dominant surface across the region — demands attention, particularly in the heat of winter's peak season when the area draws seasonal visitors alongside its year-round membership.
