Lakeside sits in the El Cajon Valley, roughly 20 miles east of San Diego, where the coastal marine layer gives way to warmer, drier air and the terrain begins its transition toward the Cuyamaca Mountains. It's a town with a genuine ranching and rodeo heritage — Lakeside hosts one of Southern California's longest-running rodeos — and the golf here carries that same unpretentious, workaday spirit rather than the resort polish you'd find closer to the coast.

A par 72 layout open to the public, it draws a loyal local following from the communities of the East County — Santee, El Cajon, Ramona — where golf is something you play on a Tuesday morning before it gets too hot, not something you dress up for.
