Few courses in Andalusia enjoy a setting quite like Añoreta Golf's. Stretched along the eastern fringe of the Costa del Sol, between Málaga city and the quieter resorts of the Axarquía coast, the course occupies flat, low-lying ground close to the Mediterranean shoreline — which means sea views and reliable sunshine for most of the year, but also the breezes that roll in off the water and quietly complicate club selection throughout the round.
Añoreta opened in 1990 and quickly established itself as one of the more polished resort tracks in the province. The layout is spacious and well maintained, with generous fairways framed by mature palm trees and ornamental lakes that come into play on several holes. It is an accessible course rather than a punishing one, though the wind and water hazards ensure that careless scoring is punished. The clubhouse facilities are firmly resort-standard, and the club has hosted various professional and amateur events over the years.
Rincón de la Victoria is a working town with genuine local character — less packaged than Marbella, closer in feel to everyday Málaga. Playing here, you get the full Costa del Sol sunshine package without quite the tourist-resort atmosphere that surrounds many of the region's better-known layouts.
