King's Forest Golf Club

Hamilton's King's Forest Golf Club occupies a stretch of the Niagara Escarpment's lower reaches, where the terrain does the work that a flat parkland layout never could. The course was developed by the City of Hamilton as a public facility, and it has long served as one of the most accessible — and genuinely enjoyable — municipal tracks in southern Ontario. The layout winds through mature hardwood forest, and the tree-lined corridors keep wayward shots honest in a way that pure length never needs to.

The surrounding geography tells you a lot about how the course plays. Hamilton sits at the western end of Lake Ontario, and the Escarpment's presence means elevation changes are real, not cosmetic — club selection becomes a legitimate conversation on several holes. Autumn, when the hardwoods turn, is widely considered the best time to walk King's Forest.

For a municipally operated course, it punches well above its category: well-maintained, walkable, and genuinely scenic without pretending to be something more exclusive than it is.
