Shiskine

Few courses in the British Isles carry quite the personality of Shiskine, a layout that has delighted visitors to the Isle of Arran for well over a century. Sitting on the southwest corner of the island near Blackwaterfoot, it plays across a stretch of linksland that tumbles between the Kilbrannan Sound and the dramatic backdrop of Drumadoon Point. The course is famously built around 12 holes of par-3s and par-4s compressed into terrain that looks almost unplayable on a map yet flows with a natural logic that only old Scottish linksland provides.

Arran itself sits in the Firth of Clyde, roughly an hour by ferry from Ardrossan, and has long carried the nickname "Scotland in Miniature" for the way its landscape shifts from Highland peaks in the north to softer, pastoral coastline in the south. The island rewards the traveler who takes the time, and Shiskine fits that spirit entirely.
